Hi peeps,

I haven't been about for a week or so cause my graphics card shat it's self. Hopefully the sale of the boat people i found last week will fund a new card.
Any suggestions on decent economical (CHEAP) cards?

You're running a 9800GTX, right?

i haven't been on coz my game just goes black whenever i go to join and that's since AK was released. i've done all updates (nvidia, windows & PB). i've done a re-install and i've checked for updates for the game every third day. i'm wanting to get on but i honestly dont know when. if you guys can help e-mail me Very Happy

I had a similar problem guys... I was struggling to get more than a few minutes out of a round before crashing to desktop...

Anyhow, after trying alot of things, and about to resort to a full PC upgrade, i noticed that the Northbridge of all things was getting mighty toasty...

anyhow, 3 new case fans and $70 later and i can play BF3 again... (woohoo)

Managed to get a nice 2hr session in on one of the metro marathon servers (3500 tix or something) and no glitches, crashes or anything... I'm pretty stoked!

Anyhow, wish you guys all the best in your PC troubles too...

I meant to add, the CPU load was only about 80%, and GPU load was about 90% (I'd dialled settings right down to try and elimiate other things first)

Needless to say, inside the box is now quite cool, but i have a mighty good foot warmer, and when it's already 35 duiring the day, it's just what i want!

Hey, that's interesting. We found a partial fix for Toey's problem here:

This has helped but he will still crash every 1~2 hours. There's been quite a few reports of this type of problem, but the causes and fixes don't seem to be consistent. When the problem first started occurring it seemed very much like his graphics card overheating. He replaced that, and the problem didn't go away. He did notice some DirectX error messages which led to finding the fix that he used. At one point I did ask him if he had a desk fan and could he take the side off the case and blow the fan into it to see if that made any difference. Unfortunately he doesn't have a desk fan, living in Tasmania an all. But it might well be worth picking a cheap fan up and giving that a whirl so see if it makes any difference.

He did completely reinstall BF3 and downloaded all the updates, and now, he's capped as well.

U_HAVE_BAD_KARMA i find old drivers are better for the vga i got gtx 580 and not a worry with old drivers man new one make it black out

MASTER yes liquid cooling is mad as part from know fan speed,i had one for years

put a jumper on Toey...wont freeze then
And get a 2G AMD Radeon HD 6960 and then crossfire it with another 1...never any probs
